Volunteer

Volunteering makes up an important part of what we aim to achieve through the Pietermaritzburg & District Community Chest.

To all the past volunteers who gave off your valuable time, skills and knowledge/expertise, we say: Thank You

There are many different ways in in which you can be of assistance to the work of the Community Chest –

Share your skill/expertise:

For example, your carpentry skills can help add some shelving to an office at one of our Community Impact Partners (CIPs), or your knitting skills can be used to help knit woollen hats for a deserving child at a children’s home.

Grow your experience whilst contributing to community enhancement:

For example, new tertiary level graduates can volunteer time expertise to assist an emerging CBO deal with the complexities of registering to become a formal not-for-profit (NPO), or your newly acquired qualification in Office Practice can assist one of our Community Impact Partner (CIPs) with reception duties or office filing.

Many hands; light work:

Very often, basic manual labour is needed to complete some tasks either for the Community Chest itself or one of our Community Impact Partners (CIPs), for example, be a part of the team serving at a hydration station for a charity road marathon such as Maritzburg Marathon or the Comrades Marathon, or help us pack gift bags for our annual Christmas Party for deserving children.

Whatever ideas you have to give back to your community, we are open to your suggestions. Drop us an email at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.  or contact us on 033 3941031.

We look forward to welcoming you into the family of volunteers help us to enhance our community and restoring hope to those in despair.
