The Pietermaritzburg & District Community Chest provides funding and supports other services to Welfare Organisations in Pietermaritzburg and surrounding areas.

For 2006 / 2007 an amount of R1, 591 million has been pledged to 39 Welfare Organisations in the fields of Health Care Support Services, Children/Youth Support Services, Early Childhood development, Rehabiliatation, General Child & Family Welfare, Elderly Care, Care of the Homeless, Care of the Mentally Handicapped, Care the Disabled and Community Development Projects!!
