Progress

Northern areas TB volunteers are busy implementing the strategy for community outreach plan linked to its current and successful DOTs strategy to TB clients. In June seven volunteers were recruited and trained on TB/TBXDR and treatment literacy. There is an increase on TB clients this month and the project extended to Haniville area. We are still having adequate working relationship with the local clinics in terms of referrals and tracing of clients. Volunteers are having weekly meetings, in June they attended a quarterly volunteers meeting.

179 TB clients were provided with home based care and DOTS that were done by 20 Volunteers under the supervision of 1 facilitator. 47 new registered and 8 discharged clients this month. 6 clients referred to Northdale Hospital. One client has completed the treatment but not cured. Six clients were found as defaulters and seven clients are on retreatment. Seven clients developed drug resistance.

102 clients were educated about the establishment of door step vegetable gardens.

60 food parcels distributed this month.
